Ashrafiyeh Road Rehabilitation Jisr al-Touta

UPDATE 23.09.2026, LATEST REPORTS FROM SANA

Decision to complete stalled projects. On 28 June 2026 the director of the Ghab region told SANA that the paving of the road between Al-Suqaylabiyah and Bridij follows a decision by the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment to complete projects stalled since 2011, and that legal procedures had been taken for a number of road projects in the Ghab region, among them the Ashrafiyeh – Jisr al-Touta road.

Al-Huwayz – Al-Rasif road. On 19 July 2026 SANA reported the start of rehabilitation works on the 4.5-kilometre Al-Huwayz – Al-Rasif road, supervised by the Technical Services Directorate in Hama and the Ghab Region Administration. In a second SANA report the same day, the head of the Technical Services Department in the Ghab said the works run in two stages: first dealing with potholes, cracks and sunken sections, then laying a second asphalt layer at least 6 centimetres thick and 5 metres wide. In April the region's director had described the Ashrafiyeh – Jisr al-Touta road as an extension of that road; SANA's two July reports do not mention the Ashrafiyeh road.

Current status. On 23 September 2026 SANA, in a report on residents' calls to repair the main roads of the Ghab, said that rehabilitation works had been carried out in the recent period on a number of roads in the area, including the rehabilitation and paving of the Ashrafiyeh – Jisr al-Tout road. The report gives no completion percentage, finish date, cost of the works or contractor name.
